The Founders
Our Story
Amsterdam Sunrise Cruises was born from the shared vision of two Amsterdam natives, Ed Beekman and Bas Siemer, who wanted to offer visitors a more intimate and refined way to experience their beloved city.
Ed and Bas are fascinated by the City's canals, architecture and culture and love to bring people together. Both spent years guiding visitors through the city's waterways.
The idea for Amsterdam Sunrise Cruises sparked during a morning when the two friends were enjoying coffee by the Prinsengracht. They noticed how peaceful and magical the canals looked in the early light, far from the crowds that would appear later in the day.
“What if,” Ed wondered, “we could combine a morning coffee experience with a private canal cruise during these magical morning hours?” Bas immediately saw the potential to create something truly special that would showcase Amsterdam from its most flattering angle.
